It all started in 1998 when Saigon H3 hosted the inaugural Indochina Hash in south Vietnam’s commercial hub known as Ho Chi Minh City by the politically correct. At that time the Mekong part of the title was absent and invitations were extended to various Hashes in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, which formed the old francophone area known as Indochina. Just four visiting Hash Chapters participated in the inaugural event, Hanoi, Vung Tao, Phnom Penh and Vientiane. The Hashers who attended agreed that a good time was had by all and since they had had such a good time, they decided to do it all again the following year in Laos.
